El Ministro de Industria y Comercio, Manuel García Arévelo, dijo que las relaciones comerciales preferenciales entre la República Dominicana y Haití "se verán fortalecidas cuando el gobierno del presidente Michel Martelly alcance una mayor estabilidad política y económica". Indicó que eso permitirá a la República Dominicana fortalecer su intercambio comercial con el vecino país " que ya es nuestro segundo socio comercial". Arévalo habló en el Foro Empresarial Domíco-Francés, en la Semana de Francia.
Delimitarán Frontera
Durante la reunión los mandatarios acordaron la reconstrucción geo-referenciada de todos los bornes fronterizos, así como la construcción de las obras físicas necesarias para una óptima delimitación de los pasos fronterizos y sobre todo de los puntos considerados como críticos. También revisaron el protocolo de repatriaciones de de nacionales haitiado firmado en 1999.
Haití se compromete.
La nación hatiana se comprometió a instalar una policía fronteriza dentro de su país, para vigilar de manera permanente la frontera.
También acordaron intentificar la presencia de autoridades en las terminales terrestres, marítima y aéreas, "donde se detectan los mayores flujos de actividades ilícitas".

IMPROVE STABILITY AFTER HAITI TRADE

He said that the Dominican Republic will strengthen their trade with the neighboring country "that is already our second largest trading partner." The governments of the Dominican Republic and Haiti yesterday reaffirmed the commitment of intesificar efforts to combat and dismantle criminal organizations involved in trafficking and substances use, to maintain a secure border policy without obstacles hindering the bilateral relations.
The joint statement signed by Michel Martelly and Leonel Fernandez establishes the Joint Bilateral Commission as the primary mechanism for dialogue between the two countries and to promote cooperation for the benefit of mutual development.
Demarcate border
During the meeting the leaders agreed to geo-referenced reconstruction of all border terminals and the construction of physical works necessary for optimal delineation of the border crossings and all of the points considered critical. They also reviewed the protocol for repatriation of nationals haitiado signed in 1999.
Haiti is committed.
The nation hatiana pledged to install a border police in their country, to ensure permanent monitoring of the border.
They also agreed to correctly determine the presence of authorities in land terminals, sea and air, "where higher flows are detected illicit activities."

Los gobiernos de la República Dominicana y Haití ratificaron ayer el compromiso de intesificar los esfuerzos para combatir y desmantelar las organizaciones criminales dedicadas al tráfico de personas y estuperfacientes, para mantener una política de frontera segura y sin obstáculos que dificulten las relaciones entre ambos países.
La declaración conjunta firmada por Michel Martelly y Leonel Fernández establece a la Comisión Mixta Bilateral como el mecanismo fundamental para el diálogo entre ambos Estados y para impulsar la cooperación en beneficio del desarrollo mutuo.
